About THE FOUNDER

Ta Shunda N.  Joiner is the Founder of Impactful Minds Counseling and Wellness. She has a Doctorate Degree in Psychology from Houston Bible College and Master Degrees in Educational Counseling and Educational Leadership from Prairie View A&M University. She is a Licensed Professional Christian Therapist and a Board Certified Christian Counselor.  Her work and education includes serving as an educator, counselor, mentor and Social Impact practitioner community supporter founder of S.T.E.P (Support Teens to Excel Productively) Today Youth Community Development Outreach Center www.steptoday.org.

Ta Shunda became passionate about supporting others in the community in 2000. Since then she has served as a Mentor, Youth Leader, Camp Director, and Christian Counselor.  In addition to her work and being, a lifelong learner Ta Shunda teaches youth classes on Self Discovery and Awareness and conducts classes and workshops teaching others how to apply Biblical principles to their lives with emphasis on social, emotional, physical, financial and spiritual awareness. She started teaching and mentoring in schools and in the community in 2009 through the G.O.O.D Girlz Mentoring programs and The Amadi Boys Club for Boys (ABC Boys Club). The mentoring programs teaches you people grades third through young adulthood how to (for girls) Graciously Overcome Obstacles Daily and boys how to become a gentleman from A to Z through programming and lessons of affirmation.   After over 25 years in education 17 years  in the classroom, Ta Shunda decided that she wanted to work more directly with the youth and families in underserviced communities, so after receiving her Master degree in Counseling from Prairie View A&M, she began working as an elementary and middle school Counselor. After five years as a Counselor, she decided to pursue an independent practice to make a greater impact for youth and families.
